Anything But a Card Challenge

The Allsorts Challenge this week was to create anything but a card which is perfect cause I love making these altered notebooks.    You might see a few spots or shadows -- I've just starting using ModPodge and need lots of practice.

Materials:
composition notebook
jeans paper from October Afternoon
green paper from Mambi (I think...)
flower by Ashland
daisy ribbon by ribbon sense

Thanks with a Gift Card

Sunday I was thinking about a thank you for a teacher and decided the ol' gift card was probably the best and easiest route.  At the same time I was thinking about a new challenge -- CAS(E) this Sketch.  Below is the result of all that thought.  It was a slow process for some reason.  Must be the pollen!

Materials:
The cardboard is a recycled coffee cup cuff.
Sentiment is Paper Smooches
Coffee cup die and stamp from My Creative Time

Have a great week,

Happy Birthday Card

Trying to keep up with my New Year's goal of entering challenges at least once a week has become quite a challenge!

But we finally finished our taxes yesterday -- on the 14th this year instead of the 15th -- and I decided a different challenge was in order.    So when I came across the "Seize the Birthday" challenge, I thought this is the one for this week.

Following a sketch is new for me so this card was definitely a challenge.

I wish my picture showed the softness of the card better.  Maybe I'll try again in brighter light.   The card is made with SU crumbcake paper and ink and the hydrangea from SU Because I Care.  I love that stamp.

Thanks!

Happy Monday!   Love the little squares on this card.   The idea came from a pin on Pinterest -- I spend way too much time looking at pins!!

Have a great week.

Wedding Guests Book

Here's another altered notebook.  This book had to have a denim - jeans theme as all the guests at the wedding were to wear jeans.

I used Mod Podge to adhere the designer paper to the composition notebook after practicing on another notebook.  Neat, I am not.  I kept a damp paper towel handy to wipe the stray and extra plops of Mod Podge as I was working on the book and my hands!   A little messier than using a glue stick, but I think I like the finished look better.  And lately I have been noticing that the paper on a book I made for myself seems to be 'unglued' so hopefully the Mod Podge will last a lot longer.

Materials:
Denim Paper:  October Afternoon
Green Paper:  MAMBI
Fiskars corner punch
Bling

Next week I will have another altered notebook.  This one has the same designer papers, but a much different look.

Have a great week.  We are supposed to have temps in the 70's!  yea!!

Geometric Shapes

The OLW  Challenge (One Layer Wednesday) for this week is to use a geometric shape several times.  Sounds easy, but ...   A one layer card really requires a lot of thought since you cannot add another layer of paper and embellishments should kept to the minimum.

So, I came up with this card when I looked at a set of stamps devoted to books and reading (perfect for the retired librarian!).
