Congratulations

May and June mean graduations.  So for this week's retro sketch challenge I thought I would make a graduation card.  This card was a lot of fun and easy to make cause the ideas just flowed and it all came together!

Ingredients:
square white card
a black square layer
a grey square with scalloped circle die cut
a white piece embossed with graduation caps and tassels
sentiment on white and black
small black square and brad with twine to make a graduation cap and tassel

World's Best Dad

Rain, rain, rain.  But I am not complaining -- at least it is not snow!  Rainy days are perfect card making days so I spent a couple hours in my woman's cave and absolutely loved it!

The first card I made was a Father's Day card.  Found the paper this afternoon in a stack of paper I totally forgot I had.  Guess I should look more often or maybe clean up my cave....

I love the calm and peaceful blue colors and sayings.   I added a little bling for Dad and a little flag.   These flags are so cute.

This card will be posted to the retro sketches # 114  challenge

Thanks So Much

Sunflowers and geraniums are my favorite flowers.  This sunflower stamp from Stampin Up is on my top ten list of most used and loved stamps.

The card is based on a sketch (below).  I added a dark brown patterned paper (can you see the round dots?) with a square of burlap on a white square card.  Then I stamped the yellow sunflower on a piece of watercolor paper and used my water pen to highlight the edges with orange ink.

I picked up some brads a month or so ago so that was good timing!    The orange brad and polka dot flag add a little extra touch.  The 'Thanks so much' stamp is from Paper Smooches.

I'll be posting this card on two challenges:

Retro Happy Birthday

Here is a card I made for a friend's birthday.  I planned to enter a card in the retro sketches challenge so I thought I would make a birthday card for my friend -- take care of two tasks at one time.

I tried to find paper that looked 'old fashioned' and masculine.  Notice the round paper clip with the string bow.  I saw this paper clips at Walmart and couldn't resist buying them.

29!

I love birthdays, but some people don't.   Many people (men and women) celebrate year 29 several times!   So for those who do.

For this card I cut several papers and made a sort of patchwork frame for the 29 numbers.  Added some silver ribbon and HB sentiment with yellow splatters on the tag.

I'll be entering this in retrosketches #107

Happy Thursday!

Love this Daisy!

I love this stamp!   The daisy stamp was part of the Greenhouse Society collection.  With spring coming I am ready to stamp all kinds of flowers!

This daisy card will be entered in retrosketchs #106 challenge

Festive Friday #26 and retro sketches Challenges

*  see note below

Even though I love making Christmas cards, I do not need snow outside to get me energized!  I am sooooo glad the snow has melted and we are going to have 60 degree weather a couple days this week.  Yay!!!

The newest inspiration from Festive Friday is this picture.  Now this makes me hungry!  Does anyone have a recipe for this cookie?

   Festive Friday #26

When I saw my papers, I picked out a curly pattern which reminded me of this swirling frosting.

* Note:  I really should check my email more often.  I came across the latest retro sketches challenge and thought the above Christmas card might work, too.

So I am entering this card in two challenges:

Happy Monday and have a good week!

retrosketches #103

The best part of winter is the cold, windy weather keeps me inside and I can work in my cave making cards!   Best place to me -- all toasty warm, audio book playing and my stamps and paper -- yay!!

I thought I would try this challenge with retrosketches

My card is a pocket card with the tag in the pocket.  The message on the tag is "Remember there's someone who thinks of you and smiles!"  Love it.  The flowers are on the card and not tag - hope that's okay?

 Spring colors!

Tomorrow is Friday.  We are due for rain and/or snow.    sigh....

retro sketches challenge

The outside temperature is 14 degrees and it is in the middle of the afternoon.  brrrrrr.   We live in Northern Virginia -- some consider this the South.  Not this week!

So, I've spent lots of time in the cave and not venturing outside.  And found another interesting card challenge:  Retro Sketches.

And this is the card I created.  I wanted the colors to be bright and cheery while I sit here in layers of clothing!

Keep warm,
Kathy
