Mother's Day Circle Card

I saw a circle card on Pinterest the other day and this type of folded card was new to me. Guess circle cards have been around for a while, but I have not seen them and I really like the idea.

So, I thought I would make one for Mother's Day.  The directions I found called for a full circle to be folded and then decorated.  My full circle die didn't seem big enough, so I made my 'circle' card a little bit bigger by moving the fold when I used the circle die.  Then I added a white paper doily, an embossed white circle, and then a couple paper flowers and leaves with bling.

Hope you are having a great day!

Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day!   Here is a card that shouldn't have taken any time at all.  but...finding matching papers and the proper sentiment can take time!  One of the papers I wanted to use was the polka dot vellum.  This piece was a gift from a friend.  Vellum and I are not friends.  sigh.

The vellum was attached to an ivory patterned base card. The same ivory pattern was cut for the corner to corner piece.  I stamped the sunflower (an old Technique Tuesday Greenhouse Society stamp) on a plain ivory card stock and stamped the sentiment on kraft card stock.

Apron for Mother

Love making this apron card with all the utensils and pot holder.  Cute.   This is a great card for Mother's Day or for Mom's birthday.

I hand cut the apron from a template.  I do have an apron die, but it is smaller and I like the larger 4x5 apron size.  The utensils are die cuts in silver glitter paper.

A few months ago I made this apron card for my nephew who loves grilling.

 Happy day,
Kathy

Happy Mother's Day

A few months ago, I subscribed to a monthly card kit (Scrapbook and Cards Today).  So far, I have received three kits and just today made my first card.  What?  I thought getting the kit every month would encourage me to make cards.  Wrong.  Maybe the holidays and winter weather were factors.  I don't know, but Spring is finally here.   And I have made a card.  Coincidence?

The kit items are the blue and orange papers - love these colors -- and the pretty flower grouping.  I added the white pearls and sentiment from my supplies.

This second pic is really bad.  Sorry.  The colors in the first pic are accurate.

Have a great week!

Papertrey Ink Blog

March is almost over!  Amazing.

Here is my entry to the Papertrey Ink March 2018 Hop.  Simple but I love the colors.  I think my MIL will really like it, too.

Looking forward to Spring!!

Take care,
Kathy

Mother's Day

Mother's Day is coming up this next weekend so I thought I would make a card a few days early.  Also, I wanted to experiment with watercolor paints.  This is a new technique for me and I found I need to work at it a bit!

The idea came from the Make It Monday #283:  Watercolor Wash Backgrounds challenge at Papertrey Ink.    The background is okay, but....  After drying the watercolor paper with my hand dryer, I ran the piece through my Big Shot using a stitched frame die.  Then I tried embossing "Mother's Day" on the the watercolor background, but realized too late that I had used a Pearl embossing powder instead of white.  Though I'm not sure white would have shown up very well either.  So I stamped in black ink Papertrey Ink's "Mother's Day" on a scrap of the watercolor background and attached it to the card.

Overall, I'm satisfied with my experiment and plan to play around more with watercolors.  I think I will try to copy one of the examples on the Papertrey Ink page.  If you would like to see a great video on watercolor wash backgrounds, Laurie's is great, click here.

Have a great week!

Happy Mother's Day

Challenges are wonderful.  I simply love the challenge of creating something from an idea.  Today's challenge is from PaperTrey Ink: Make It Monday #281: Patterns Behind Die-cut Windows.

I'm also participating in an unfinished card swap.  So using the elements from Lila (white ribbon, pink flowers and pink patterned paper) and the Happy Mother's Day die from PaperTrey Ink, I came up with this card.  I think my MIL will like it.  Pink and green are so feminine and pretty.  The sentiment and edges of the circle are sparkly with Wink of Stella and the whole circle is raised with dimensions.   Cute!

The pink and green are sooooo much prettier in person.

Happy Weekend, even if it is raining!

Mother's Day

Since we have had rain for the last several days, I haven't been able to work in the yard - lots of weeds with more to come I'm sure!  So, I have been in my cave and loving it.  Here are a couple Mother's Day cards I made.

I found more little flowers in my stash and decided more Mother's Day cards were in order.

Have a great day,
Kathy

Happy Mother's Day

Can you believe Mother's Day is in a week.  Well, nine days, but soooo soon.  I was inspired to make this Mother's Day card by two challenges:  Time Out Challenge  and Fusion Card Challenge.

I love the colors required for the Fusion Challenge (teal and orange) and thought I would add the die-cut requirement of the Time Out Challenge.

A teal layer is adhered to the orange base card.  Then I die cut the oval shape on white card stock and stamped the sentiment at the top.  Next was running the white piece through the Big Shot to emboss with a basket weave design.

Then I used my Copic pens to ink the flowers and leaves on a Stampin Up stamp (sorry the stamp is upstairs - something Wildflower?) and stamped the background.  I used my water pen to add some touches here and there to give it a nice watercolor effect.  I layered the embossed piece over the watercolor flowers and attached it all to the top of the teal card stock and base.

Grandma... You're So Special

Grandma...  You're So Special.   Love this stamp and Grandmas deserve a special card.  While looking at my yellow daffodils and green grass, I decided to make a card with the pretty little paper flowers I picked up a while ago.

I sponged a white doily with yellow ink, place it on an embossed white piece and layered the flowers on the doily.  The center of each flower has a dab of clear Wink of Stella.  Then I added a few dabs in the doily spaces and the O at the top.  Nifty pen and so easy to use!

Then I added a piece of green card stock to the yellow base card and adhered the white embossed card to the green.  Finally, I added two little green paper flowers in the corners.

Oh, forgot.  I stamped the sentiment on the white card stock before I embossed the white piece with the dotted folder and Big Shot.  The inside of the card is stamped Happy Mother's Day.

Grandma... You're So Special will be posted to these challenges:

Spring?

Gosh, I hope Spring is here!  I am ready for green grass, warmer weather and no snow and flowers!

In anticipation of flowers, I made this flower pot card.  So cute.  Love making these cards. Did you notice the little lady bug?

Perfect card for Mother's Day or to cheer up someone when they are down.  Nice and bright and cheery.

Have a great week,
Kathy
