Watercolor Tag

This week I wanted to make cards for a couple challenges so I thought I would play around with watercolors - which I'd like to more often.

Here is a tag I made with purple, green and blue and a tad of yellow.  I swished the colors all around on paper and then cut out hearts.  Then I dotted another piece of white card stock with the same colors for the background using the top of the water brush.    I die cut the two little tags from the watercolor paper, stamped the little tags with 'friend' and 'love' and tied them to the white bow and purple string at the top of the tag.   The final step was placing little dots of glue on the backs of the hearts and attaching them to the larger tag.

I may attach this tag to a gift for a friend who feeling a little low right now.

Made with:
Sentiments - 'love' from Technique Tuesday Hello set and 'friend' from a retired SU set
Small tags from Sizzix Framelits Tags & Words
Hearts from Tim Holtz Scribble & Splat die set

Hugs & Kisses Dangles

Isn't this cute!  Fun to make but I had to think about it for a bit.  When I first read the challenge, I thought the task would be easy.  Well, maybe for some, but not for me.  Though once I got going, I finished the card quickly.

Anyhow, the challenge was to use one Papertrey Ink product and stamped dangles.  The Papertrey Ink sentiment, Hugs & Kisses, was perfect for this challenge and just in time for Valentine's Day.  Then I looked through my stamps for little itty bitty stamps and found a heart, bird and butterfly.  The XOs are also Papertrey Ink.

Valentine Card

Before I know it Valentine's Day will be here and I'll have no cards!  So, I'm getting a head start.  For my first card, I attached two pieces of music on black backgrounds and glistening hearts to a basic black and white card.  I made this card for the CAS on Sunday Challenge #99   (black and white with one color) and Tuesday Morning Sketches #385

Materials include black and white card stock and die cut hearts in red.  I found the music online years ago on a copyright free site and swished my Wink of Stella all over the red hearts.

Sorry for the blurry pics.  I just can't seem to get red to photo very well.  The actual card is very clear -- even the music!

Happy Friday.  We're expecting snow, sleet, ice....  Hopefully, I'll get more Valentines made!!
Take care,
Kathy

now and forever

Well, panic just set in for a minute.  I thought I missed the closing time for The Challenge #69 but then I saw the challenge closes at noon PST -- I'm EST.  yay!!

I made this card a couple days ago and life just got in the way and now I have time to post it.   It is a simple card with a pretty striped chevron paper on the teal base card.  I die cut the center heart and the smaller hearts, added a rafia bow in pink and white, and tacked on a few sequins.  The stamp is from Paper Smooches.

Ah, yes, this has been one of those weeks.  I totally forgot to add the second challenge for this card.   This one is the April 2016 Inspiration Challenge for Verve Stamps.  I love looking at their challenges and the entries - very talented people.  I need to get Verve stamps.

Happy Valentine's Day

Here are a couple Valentine's Day cards I made.  Quick and easy.

The first is a red card base with a piece of patterned card stock - love love love all over.  I punched the left side with an edger just to add a little dimension, tied a bow with pretty red and white twine, and added a little heart.

Looking at this picture of the card, I see the heart looks a little blah.  I think I'll add some bling to it.

The second card has a kraft card base.  I covered a piece of white card stock with XOXO, cut the geometric shape (trapezium?) and adhered it to the card base.  A little bit of red and white twine, a couple hearts and bling complete the top of the card.  A big Hugs & Kisses stamp and red bling on the bottom.

I'll be sending these cards to my nieces' little children.  They like to receive cards!  And I love sending them cards.

Now and Forever

Here is the second card I have made for a card element swap.  If you missed the first card, you can see it here.  The element I received was a lovely large watercolor heart.  Because the heart measures about 4.5" long, I decided a  5" square card would be perfect.  But what to do then....

After thirty minutes of sorting through paper and card stock, I finally settled on these colors and the simple layout.  I didn't want too much background or design and thought the pink and blue papers and matching twine brought out the colors of the heart.   Don't you think the casual and clever 'now and forever' sentiment from Paper Smooches go with the quirky heart?

Today is Monday and the sun is shining!  yay!  Have a great week,

Kathy

Valentine #2

Another Valentine's Day card made with premade hearts.  I don't remember where I picked up these hearts, but I sure do like them.  I like the foam on the back as it gives the card a great 3-D effect.  I added dimensionals to the back of the black, red and white hearts.

This second card has tiny sequin hearts and bling on the paper hearts.

Hope you like it.

Take care,
Kathy

with love

Valentine's Day is just around the corner so I'm trying to be proactive by making my Valentine Cards early.   One of my resolutions this year is to send birthday and holiday cards to all my friends and family.  Only one birthday in January so that one is easy and then Valentine's day and two birthdays.  An easy start....

Below is Valentine #1.  In my stash I found these premade hearts with foam on the back.  Then I embossed white, red and black card stock with small dots and punched out the hearts and added a little bling for pizzazz.

Cute.  Simple. Pretty.

Have a great day!

I Only Have Eyes For You

This card is my favorite!  I saw the saying on a t-shirt and thought that would be perfect for a Valentine's Day card.  So I set up the card using Publisher on my computer and printed the front of the card on white and added a few little red hearts.

The picture is blurry, but I didn't retake it -- seemed to fit the card.  Don't you think it is funny!

More Valentine's Day Cards

I love making Valentine's Day cards.  The colors are usually so bright and cheerful and the cards are full of love.  sigh....

So, here are a couple more that I have made.  Clean and simple and I really like them.

Are you ready for Valentine's Day?

Happy Monday,

Hearts and Lacey Doily

Hearts and lacey doilies are perfect for Valentine's Day.  The card pictured below was really quick and easy to make.  I think I will use it as a notecard instead of a Valentine Card.

The doily was purchased at Michael's or A.C. Moore and I cut the hearts out with my Mini Cricut using scraps of designer paper I had in my stash.

Take care,
Kathy

Another Valentine's Day Card

I saw this card either on Pinterest or when I was roaming the Internet and thought it was pretty cute.  So using my computer and printer, I printed off a few.   Simple and to the point!  The picture might be blurry but I decided not to retake it -- eye exam, blurry eye chart ....    ;'))

The actual card is not blurry at all.

Take care,
Kathy

Valentine's Day Card

Holiday and seasonal cards are so much fun to make.   Not that I don't like making birthday or get well cards, special themes are just plain fun!

So, here is a lovely feminine Valentine's Day card.  Lots of pink, ribbon and pearls.  Sweet.

Materials:
white card stock
white ribbon
white pearls  (white, white and white....)
Martha Stewart border punch
Designer paper:  K&Company BW Madeline
Cricut shapes from Teresa Collins Sampler

Inspiration for this card came from the Sweet Sunday Challenge:

Hearts, Hearts, Hearts

Yesterday I was setting up my 2013 calendar and when I got to February, I realized I had no Valentine cards yet.  Hope we make a few Valentines in card class the last week of the month.  In the meantime, I thought I would try to be creative and make something using hearts and paper doilies.

Here are two I made yesterday.  The first card is really simple.   I used my Mini Cricut to cut out the hearts (love that machine - I could just cut things out for hours!).  I taped the hearts to white card stock and a red card,  added a few shining hearts and stamped the sweetheart sentiment.  I like the way the hearts flow.

The second card was almost as easy and quick to make.  I found the heart online (free printable) and cut it out.  Then I taped the heart on a paper lace doily and  added both to a finished card -- the light green stripes printed on the card really go with the stripes in the heart.  I wish the colors were truer in the picture.  The flowers are more orange than red, but I changed the brightness of the picture so the  the doily and heart outline could be seen easier.  The final touches were the paper flowers and little roses on the left (purchased at Michael's).    Pretty and feminine.

The first card has been entered in the Just Us Girls Challenge:
