Happy Mother's Day

Can you believe Mother's Day is in a week.  Well, nine days, but soooo soon.  I was inspired to make this Mother's Day card by two challenges:  Time Out Challenge  and Fusion Card Challenge.

I love the colors required for the Fusion Challenge (teal and orange) and thought I would add the die-cut requirement of the Time Out Challenge.

A teal layer is adhered to the orange base card.  Then I die cut the oval shape on white card stock and stamped the sentiment at the top.  Next was running the white piece through the Big Shot to emboss with a basket weave design.

Then I used my Copic pens to ink the flowers and leaves on a Stampin Up stamp (sorry the stamp is upstairs - something Wildflower?) and stamped the background.  I used my water pen to add some touches here and there to give it a nice watercolor effect.  I layered the embossed piece over the watercolor flowers and attached it all to the top of the teal card stock and base.

Grandma... You're So Special

Grandma...  You're So Special.   Love this stamp and Grandmas deserve a special card.  While looking at my yellow daffodils and green grass, I decided to make a card with the pretty little paper flowers I picked up a while ago.

I sponged a white doily with yellow ink, place it on an embossed white piece and layered the flowers on the doily.  The center of each flower has a dab of clear Wink of Stella.  Then I added a few dabs in the doily spaces and the O at the top.  Nifty pen and so easy to use!

Then I added a piece of green card stock to the yellow base card and adhered the white embossed card to the green.  Finally, I added two little green paper flowers in the corners.

Oh, forgot.  I stamped the sentiment on the white card stock before I embossed the white piece with the dotted folder and Big Shot.  The inside of the card is stamped Happy Mother's Day.

Grandma... You're So Special will be posted to these challenges:

now and forever

Well, panic just set in for a minute.  I thought I missed the closing time for The Challenge #69 but then I saw the challenge closes at noon PST -- I'm EST.  yay!!

I made this card a couple days ago and life just got in the way and now I have time to post it.   It is a simple card with a pretty striped chevron paper on the teal base card.  I die cut the center heart and the smaller hearts, added a rafia bow in pink and white, and tacked on a few sequins.  The stamp is from Paper Smooches.

Ah, yes, this has been one of those weeks.  I totally forgot to add the second challenge for this card.   This one is the April 2016 Inspiration Challenge for Verve Stamps.  I love looking at their challenges and the entries - very talented people.  I need to get Verve stamps.

Sorry I'm overdue

Here is another in my new series of library and/or reading cards.  I love the colors of this card.  The paper is from Stampin Up.  I don't know if the paper was meant to look like books, but I bought with that in mind.  Then I matched the colors of the paper with some rafia I had in my ribbon box.

"Sorry I'm overdue" -- ha ha ha.  Librarians will crack up!  We love a little inside joke now and then....

Take care,
Kathy

Congratulations

Graduations and retirements are coming soon.  This card is very similar to a birthday card I saw on Pinterest -- my favorite source of inspiration!  I changed the sentiment to Congratulations and added a little pocket on the inside for a gift card or money.

The front seemed a little blah so I tacked on several silver and red sequins.  The basic card is black and the black and white patterned paper is from my stash.  The sentiment is from one of my favorite sets:  Word Up from Paper Smooches (though I think this set is retired as it does not match the current Word Up set on their website).

If you need a bunch of birthday or graduation cards, this would be a top candidate -- quick and easy.

I'm adding this card to the Paper Smooches April Challenge - Black and White with a Pop of Color.

Book Lover Birthday

hi - I realized the other day I have several stamps dealing with books and/or reading that I haven't used.  So I started making 'library' cards for my friends (most of them are retired librarians like me!).

Here's a nice simple birthday card that my friends will love.

Take care,

Happy Birthday Sunflower

Love sunflowers -- I am so looking forward to warm weather and colorful flowers!  I made this card for the Seize the Birthday - Florals and Always Playing with Paper challenges.  The beautiful colors of pink, green, teal and yellow are the challenge with Always Playing with Paper.  My camera doesn't really show the richness of  the colors in my card.  That's a little disappointing - the teal came out a bit too blue.  But I still love the card.

Materials:
Wild Sunflower die from Memory Box
Paper from Stampin up
Sentimental Birthday stamp from There She goes
Crafter's Aruba ink from Color Box

Note about the ink.   When I shopped for a teal ink pad a couple weeks ago, I could find only the Crafter's aruba by Color Box.  Nice pretty teal color, but the ink takes forever to dry on this white card stock.  I used my hair dryer to blow warm air and thought the ink was dry.  But as you can see, there is a little blur on the 'y.'  I think I will experiment with other card stock to see what the drying times are.

A Blessing From Heaven

Hi everyone - Here are two cute baby cards that I made with some odd lace, buttons and embossed scrap paper.  The die cut frame is in white and the bases are pink and blue.

I don't know where I picked up this strange lace or is it called edging?  It does add a different dimension!

Have a great week,
Kathy
