3 Thirds Happy Birthday

The challenge for Cas-ual Fridays calls for a card with three of something on 1/3 of the card and to keep the card clean and simple.

Threes were on my brain so I inked three colors on white stock, then found three papers and punched three big and three small hexagons and arranged the hexagons on 1/3 (?) of the card.  The card doesn't have a lot of white space but it is simple.  And it was fun to make.

Thanks So Much

Sunflowers and geraniums are my favorite flowers.  This sunflower stamp from Stampin Up is on my top ten list of most used and loved stamps.

The card is based on a sketch (below).  I added a dark brown patterned paper (can you see the round dots?) with a square of burlap on a white square card.  Then I stamped the yellow sunflower on a piece of watercolor paper and used my water pen to highlight the edges with orange ink.

I picked up some brads a month or so ago so that was good timing!    The orange brad and polka dot flag add a little extra touch.  The 'Thanks so much' stamp is from Paper Smooches.

I'll be posting this card on two challenges:

Glittering Grey

Before I start smoking my salmon and tossing together a salad to take to my SIL for Easter Dinner, I wanted to post my Festive Friday Challenge card.

Grey just seemed the way to go and some duplicates (think mirror).  I started with a grey base and added an embossed white card.  Then I die cut the other grey piece and embossed smaller white piece.  Just after Christmas I picked up the grey flowers at Michael's.  They looked so pretty I could not pass them up (plus the $1 price was right!).

I didn't add a sentiment as I thought the glittery flower should take center stage.  The final touch was little bits of green bling scattered around the centers of the embossed snowflakes.

Hi!

One more card for the week.  This card was fun to make.  I covered a piece of card stock with cute little strips of Washi tape - love the colors.  I picked up a round tray dispenser at Costco (my favorite store!!) a few months back,  The tray was full of different colors and two sizes of Washi tape.  Really handy to use.

Then I placed the  smaller square in the middle of a white square card, added a red button and yellow bow, a few butterflies and bling and the sentiment in the corner.

I'll post this card to the Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge

Have a great weekend!
Kathy

A Day Bright With Sunshine

Love this sentiment:  Wishing you a day bright with sunshine.  After a long, long winter we are all wishing for a bright day!

The sentiment just calls for bright and cheery colors and flowers.  I stamped the sunflowers with VersaMagic and then used my water pen to fill in the flowers and then added some bling and a sweet little white bow.

I'll post this card to Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #215

Have a great weekend.

Happy Birthday with Hexagons -- again!!

Hexagons are wonderful.  I am so glad someone (don't know who) decided to make a hexagon stamp and hexagon punch!

I pinned the card below made by Marelle Taylor in Australia on Pinterest and it is by far the most pinned card I have ever pinned.  Every day I get a notice that at least five people have pinned that card -- up to 349 this morning.  Can you imagine the total number of pins for this card including other people's boards?

I have made a lot of cards with hexagons and give this card all the idea credit.

So here is my latest hexagon card.  I love teal and purple together so I punched a few hexagons and added them to a white base, then blue piece and then a purple card with pinkish ribbon.  Kind of cheery.  Need to add a little glue to the edges.

I was going to enter the card in a challenge, but got so wrapped up in making the card I forgot to use a necessary product.  oh well.

Take care,
Kathy

Retro Happy Birthday

Here is a card I made for a friend's birthday.  I planned to enter a card in the retro sketches challenge so I thought I would make a birthday card for my friend -- take care of two tasks at one time.

I tried to find paper that looked 'old fashioned' and masculine.  Notice the round paper clip with the string bow.  I saw this paper clips at Walmart and couldn't resist buying them.

Mittens

I have packed all the mittens and scarves away and won't bring them out for months!  But in the meantime, I'll make cards with mittens.

Here is a simple card made with brown mittens (big dots on brown), white corrugated cuffs, a little greenery and bow.

This card is being posted on the Festive Friday Challenge #28

I really wanted something glittery and see through, but.... the card I created just lacked pizzazz.   So I went with two brown mittens.

Have a great week,
Kathy

Hello

A simple card just to say 'hello.'

Aren't these colors great!  I love purple and teal together -- so rich.  I added a bright white flower with leaves and some bling.    I bought these flowers and leaves at AC Moore last year but haven't used them at all till now.

I made this card for the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge.  The card measures about 5 1/2" x 3 1/2" which just fits some envelopes I picked up at Walmart.  The envelopes were on sale -- 75 cents for a box of 100.  What a deal!

Have a great weekend!

Anything Goes

An Anything Goes challenge is, as I've said before, a challenge.  I started this card for another challenge and did not finish it -- life somehow got in the way!   So when the new Paper Smooches Anything Goes challenge came up, I decided to complete the card and enter it in the new challenge.

I love blue, green and yellow and flowers.  Spring is here, thankfully.  I've had enough of winter.  My daffodils have buds and I can't wait to see them.

So, here's my card.

It's hump day!   I miss that commercial.  I laughed every time (and I do mean every)  I saw the ad on TV.

Take care,
Kathy

Yay Hexagons!

Love those hexagons!!   I needed a birthday card for a friend and also a card for a challenge.  So....

I'll be entering this card in the retrosketches #108 challenge

Take care,
Kathy
