Smile

Here's a really simple, yet elegant, card that could be sent to a man or woman for any occasion -- Smile!

The basic card is white with black and gold stripes layers.  The two part tag is white and velum with embossed gold lettering and dots.  I added a gold bow to the tag.

 The weekend is coming.  Enjoy!

2020 Fall Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop

Well, I almost missed the 2020 Fall Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop!  We've been busy doing next to nothing, too!  Time and days just got away from us and before we knew it, November 10th was here.  OMG!!

So, I quickly ran to my cave and made a card:  I added some lovely watercolor to a digital cup and picked out cheerful paper and cardstock.

Hope you have a great day!

All Occasion Card

Well, I made this card a few weeks for a challenge and then forgot to post it.  I think this virus and change of habits and schedule has me turned upside down.  Over the past weeks I have made several cards and there they sit on my desk.  So today I will start taking pics and start posting on this blog.

Here's the first card - an all occasion card - featuring pink and tan die cut flowers on a white paper doily with a brown ribbon.  The basic card is dark brown with a white cover and bright pink tag.   The center of the pink flower is made of flower fluff.

One of my favorites

This card looks pretty much like the original.  I saw it on Pinterest years ago and loved it.   The flowers and paper are different but the layout is the same.

It is one of my favorites.

Have a great weekend!

Cozy Reading Chair

Last week I purchased this book paper and thought it would be great for a background.   Then the email from Tuesday Morning Sketches arrived with the sketch for this week and I remembered a stamp set I hadn't used for a while that would go perfectly with the background paper.

With the Arctic cold surrounding us, I find this oversized chair, kitty and a book so comforting!

Stay warm!!

Lovely Watercolor Flower

Seriously?  My last post was in July?  So sorry.  How does time fly so fast?  We have been traveling a bit and then, you know, life just happens.

In the last couple weeks, I have made a few cards and I will try to post all of them.

The first is one of my favorites.  Very simple and elegant watercolor flower on white cardstock placed on a green frame and burgundy basic card.

This card could be sent to someone on their birthday or retirement or to send get well wishes or just to say hello.  Almost any kind of flower stamp could be used.

 Have a great weekend!

Pretty Napkin Card

Loved making this card.  Several months ago I saw a lovely floral card which was made using a paper dinner napkin.  This card was made using Saran Wrap and an iron -- a little time consuming and awkward for me.  Last week I saw another technique using a glue stick.  Hurrah!  This was the one for me.

So I quickly found a beautiful spring napkin and my glue stick. There are many videos on You Tube explaining this technique.  "No-Iron Paper Napkin" and  "DIY Napkin Cards" are two that I like.

Hints:  I used a brayer to make sure the glue was evenly distributed - do not use the brayer on the napkin side as the napkin might tear.   I waited for the glue to dry before I trimmed the edges.  This wait may not be necessary, but I wanted to be careful.  If you are going to use a paper trimmer to cut the piece, be sure the glue is dry and place the napkin side down.  As I quickly learned, cutting the piece with scissors is a better option as there is less chance of tearing the napkin.

I was going to add a sentiment, but changed my mind.  I like the card as is, but also think it needs something.  Any ideas?

2017 Fall Coffee Lovers Blog

Here is my last card for the 2017 Fall Coffee Lovers Blog.  Sigh.  I love making these cards and love this blog challenge.   I don't remember how I came upon it, but I'm so glad I did.  Can't wait for the winter blog challenge!

We are hosting a birthday party tomorrow which should be fun.  Last summer picnic (grilling and potato salad) and terrific weather.

Have a great weekend!

All Occasion Card

I've been wanting to use this stamp from Technique Tuesday for ages.  It is part of the Greenhouse Society Stamp program - I get a new stamp every month and love them.  I think this stamp is from last year - don't know why I haven't used it yet.

So I made two cards in different watercolors for different challenges.  I didn't add a sentiment and I'm not sure whether I should or not.

The pictures look a little washed out.  Sorry.  Rainy day and not very good light.

I'll be entering these cards in the following challenges:

Starry Night

Hi everyone -
Thankfully, the snow is gone -- three feet.  Well, we did not receive three feet, only 32 inches!  We stuck a yard stick in the snow on our deck.  At first we enjoyed seeing the yard stick disappear ... then, not so much.

The first few days after the blizzard, the snow was absolutely beautiful.  So pristine white and pretty.  Then, of course, the roads cleared and the sand and dirt turned the lovely white snow to piles of ugly brown yuck!

So, I guess I still have snow on my mind and came up with this card.  A picture of silver trees in a frame with a little paperclip at the top.  Confetti stars for a starry night.

Card materials:
Martha Stewart All Over the Page Stars
Stampin Up "Lovely as a Tree" stamp
We R Memory Keepers Albums Made Easy
Ink It Up! Silver ink

I'll be posting this card to two challenges:

Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge #3   I chose the middle row: polaroid, paperclip and confetti.  An interesting challenge - really makes one think outside the box.

And more flower pot cards

Can't stop making these flower pot cards.  Everyone in my family may get one for their birthday!

This card has some Fallish colors and I have just the right person to send it to!  Might even be a good one to send at Thanksgiving.  Yay!

Flower Pot Card

Hi everyone -

Here's another flower pot card.  I'm on a roll.  Love this color combination.

My last posting was also a flower pot card.  Such perfect cards for Mother's Day, birthday, or get well.

Spring?

Gosh, I hope Spring is here!  I am ready for green grass, warmer weather and no snow and flowers!

In anticipation of flowers, I made this flower pot card.  So cute.  Love making these cards. Did you notice the little lady bug?

Perfect card for Mother's Day or to cheer up someone when they are down.  Nice and bright and cheery.

Have a great week,
Kathy

Many Miles Away

While looking for my beach stamps, I came across this coffee cup stamp.  I lost this stamp a while ago, panicked when I couldn't find it and quickly contacted My Creative Time to see if they still sold the stamp.  The stamp is part of a set and not sold separately.  I must have sounded pitiful cause Emma at My Creative Time was willing to part with her own stamp to help me out.  Thankfully, I found the coffee cup stamp clinging to the back of another set.

I found two other stamps I have not used yet.  The 'hello' is from Altenew's Just Wanted To Say Hello set.  I picked this up just a few weeks ago at the local stamp shop.  The other stamp is the verse inside the card.  This stamp is from Clearly Wordsworth.  Are they still in business?  The stamp set is all yellowed and kind of sticky, but the stamp worked okay.

My sister is miles away so I think I will make a similar card for her -- change the hello to something with sister but keep the sentiment.  I chose this sentiment cause it is different and sweet.

Ok, that's it for now.  Tomorrow I start my flower pot cards.  Love 'em.

It's Wine O'Clock!

Oh look, it's wine o'clock!

I saw a similar sign on Pinterest and just cracked up in laughter.  I have a couple friends who came immediately to mind and I thought I would make them a card.  But I don't have a stamp with that phrase so I printed one with my computer.  The wine bottle stamp I have had for a while -- glad to finally use it!   Maybe this card could be the start of a goal of mine to start using stamps I haven't used yet.    hmmmmm.

Hope you enjoy the card --  I know my friends will love it!

Happy Sunday,
Kathy

Card Swap 3

Well, I finally finished the third card in the latest unfinished card swap.  To be truthful, this is my third attempt at this card.  I just could not get my thoughts together and come up with something I liked.  Is that similar to writer's block?

So to Pinterest I went and reviewed the cards I have pinned hoping to find something that would work.  I think this layout does.  It is almost like the card I pinned - many thanks to that person  -- sorry I forgot to write the who, etc.

The elements for this card included two strips of the printed paper, a large piece of the pink card stock, the pink scalloped centerpiece and a yellow ribbon.  The yellow ribbon is a complete mess now so I substituted this slightly off-color pinky browny ribbon.  I added the three pink pearls in the upper left corner and embossed the teal background.

I'm looking forward to the next unfinished card swap!

Take care,
Kathy

A Room Without Books....

One of most favorite sayings is "A room without books is like a body without a soul" by Cicero.

I purchased the stamp set with this saying a while ago and thought the shape of the saying would be perfect for this My Favorite Things sketch.

Since I am a retired librarian, my house is full of books.  I don't know what I will do when I have to downsize.   Panic is setting in already....

Hello

A simple card just to say 'hello.'

Aren't these colors great!  I love purple and teal together -- so rich.  I added a bright white flower with leaves and some bling.    I bought these flowers and leaves at AC Moore last year but haven't used them at all till now.

I made this card for the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge.  The card measures about 5 1/2" x 3 1/2" which just fits some envelopes I picked up at Walmart.  The envelopes were on sale -- 75 cents for a box of 100.  What a deal!

Have a great weekend!

Anything Goes

An Anything Goes challenge is, as I've said before, a challenge.  I started this card for another challenge and did not finish it -- life somehow got in the way!   So when the new Paper Smooches Anything Goes challenge came up, I decided to complete the card and enter it in the new challenge.

I love blue, green and yellow and flowers.  Spring is here, thankfully.  I've had enough of winter.  My daffodils have buds and I can't wait to see them.

So, here's my card.

It's hump day!   I miss that commercial.  I laughed every time (and I do mean every)  I saw the ad on TV.

Take care,
Kathy
