Is it Spring yet?

Is Spring here yet?  I am soooooo ready.  My daffodils are popping up in between snow mounds.  I always worry about them, but they always seem to be as beautiful as ever.

Well, I could not resist Spring colors and created this card for the Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge.

retrosketches #103

The best part of winter is the cold, windy weather keeps me inside and I can work in my cave making cards!   Best place to me -- all toasty warm, audio book playing and my stamps and paper -- yay!!

I thought I would try this challenge with retrosketches

My card is a pocket card with the tag in the pocket.  The message on the tag is "Remember there's someone who thinks of you and smiles!"  Love it.  The flowers are on the card and not tag - hope that's okay?

 Spring colors!

Tomorrow is Friday.  We are due for rain and/or snow.    sigh....

Hello Foxy

The brown fox jumped over the fence....

Just picked up a stamp set with a cute little fox so I thought it would fit this challenge nicely.

  Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge

I used a little Washi tape behind the fox.  Wish the orange showed up a bit more.

Taking pictures is a real challenge.  These two pictures were taken on the top of the same bookshelf within minutes of each other, but the lighting is so very different.

Take care,
Kathy

Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge: Cozy Quilt & Moxie Fab World: Hexagons

Found another interesting challenge blog:  Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge.  The picture of a cozy quilt drew me in to this challenge.

    Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge

Years ago I made a couple fabric quilts.  One was machine sewn and the other was hand sewn.  Oh my, what a lot of work.  Creating a card with quilts is so much easier!

Hexagons seem to be quite popular now and I love 'em.  Here is my card with patterned hexagons and Washi tape over an embossed hexagon white card.

I'm adding another challenge --  Moxie Fab World:  Hexagons .

While reading another blog, I came across the Moxie Fab blog.  I think I have seen it before, but this time it really caught my attention as I am truly enjoying these hexagons.  They can be die cut or stamped in any other or pattern.  They are great for masculine cards, too.

Take care and stay warm!

Festive Friday #25

The inspiration picture for this week's Festive Friday posed a problem for me.  Clean and simple cards with lots of white space are really quite difficult to create -- at least for me.

When I looked at the picture, I saw white, red, a touch of gold and ribbon.  Then I looked again and saw lots and lots of white with a tiny bit of the other colors and sighed.  My first card was a complete disaster (in the round filing cabinet without hesitation!).

So, here is my card.  The dimensionals behind the circles add a little depth and the sentiment font a little whimsy on an all white card.

The Best Sister

This is another phrase from a t-shirt in a catalog.  My sister cracked up when she saw it and said she was going to send it back to me someday!

Using my computer and printer, I printed the phrase on a pretty background and added a few embellishments.

And today is my sister's birthday.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Have a great weekend,
Kathy

Festive Friday #24

When I looked at the inspiration picture for the Festive Friday Challenge, I immediately saw gold and gold embossing.

I started out with a kraft card covered with gold embossed snowflakes.  Did not like it all.  But when put on a white card, the kraft card and embossing softened a little.  The gold bow sparkles like the ornaments in the pictures, too.  I think the bow should be a tad smaller.  The sentiment is stamped in red for a spot of color.

Ice and snow tonight.  Yuk!

Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 205

Starting the week off with a card challenge is inspiring -- sets the tone for the rest of the week.  I saw the challenge yesterday and just sort of mulled ideas and came up with this card.  Cheery, right?

The daisy stamp is from Technique Tuesday (one of the items I purchased with my egift card -- a wonderful present  -- so glad I asked for it!).  I inked the stamp and used my watercolor pen a little bit around the center.
