Happy Birthday

Here is the start of a birthday card for the holiday season.  I wish I had time to finish  it before the 2022 Fall/Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop ends today, but time is really short today.  I took this picture days ago.   I like to look at a photo to get ideas for embellishments.

So, on this card I would add a couple smaller gold thingies at the top (those gold plops at the bottom of the card are the center pieces for paper poinsettias).  And I think I would remove the large cup and add several small pretty cups instead.  On the inside I'd add a couple more gold thingies.

When I finish the card, I'll post a picture of it.   Have a great weekend!

Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day!   Here is a card that shouldn't have taken any time at all.  but...finding matching papers and the proper sentiment can take time!  One of the papers I wanted to use was the polka dot vellum.  This piece was a gift from a friend.  Vellum and I are not friends.  sigh.

The vellum was attached to an ivory patterned base card. The same ivory pattern was cut for the corner to corner piece.  I stamped the sunflower (an old Technique Tuesday Greenhouse Society stamp) on a plain ivory card stock and stamped the sentiment on kraft card stock.

Need a Hug Pug

Need a Hug Pug?   Isn't this little dog a cutie!

I made this card with navy blue and tan card stock with a band of designer stripe paper and twine.  The pug is a stamp set from Pink and Main - love him.

A kind of plain and simple card, but absolutely perfect for a man!

Happy 17th Birthday

Happy Birthday to a 17 year old boy!  Cards for men and teenagers cause me a bit of stress.  This is my second try on this card.  The first went in the trash.  sad.

This is a simple card with a brown base card and beige frame.  The light blue card stock is covered with embossed happy birthday sentiments.  The number 17 was die cut and adhered to two oval cut outs.  A brown ribbon with blue stitching and brown and white twine were added for depth.

The coloring in the second photo is more accurate.

Winter Happy Birthday Card

Here is a snowy birthday card for someone with a winter birthday.  This card seems fitting for this time of year especially since our outside temps have been really low and the sun is hiding!

For this card I embossed snowflakes on a piece of white card stock and framed it with dark blue card stock and a white base card.  I added a few silver drops in the center of the snowflakes.  The Happy Birthday sentiment was embossed with silver powder and framed with the same dark blue card stock.  An easy card to make but filled with different elements.

May Your Holidays Sparkle

Love this card.  I just may make several more to send out to friends and family.  It also was a fun card to make.  Not to mention, it was kind of easy, too!

I used a basic green, red and vanilla card stock plus a pretty plaid designer card stock.  I die cut poinsettia leaves with gold paper and delicate pine branches in green.  The little circle of bling in the middle of the poinsettia is a little cutie that I picked up at a scrapbooking show years ago.

I think I may add some more sparkle inside the card.  Have to think about this.

Merry Christmas

Here is a sparkling Christmas card.  This card was fun to make and a little challenging.  The metallic glitter paper is kind of thick so cutting with the snowflake die took quite a few runs through my Big Shot.  After I finished the card, a little bell went off in my head - I think the last time I used this glitter paper, I turned the paper upside down so the backing was on top and would cut first.  duh??

Anyhow, I saw this sketch last week on Pinterest and thought I would try a couple different cards.  A solid blue basic card folded a couple times with a lovely delicate snowflake on the front and one on the inside along with a die cut Merry Christmas sentiment.

A simple yet elegant Christmas card.  Great to send to a man or minimalist friend.

My second card for this sketch will be in another post.

Simple Happy Birthday Card

Here is an easy to make birthday card.  Of course, the terrific paper covered with coffee cups adds a whole new element to this card.  The little sayings on the cups are so cute, too!

Books and Coffee

A few months ago I picked up this digi and absolutely love it!  Each card I have made looks different due to the change in colors and shading.  This card is edged in gold and many of the books have gold trimmings.

I took a card making class a couple years ago and one of the featured ideas was to use a gold ink pen to edge the cards and images.  The gold certainly adds quite a bit to the card.  Love the gold edging against the black frame.

Happy Birthday

A card full of coffee cups, Happy Birthday and a gift card.  I found this great designer paper online which has wonderful happy sayings on the coffee cups.  Inside is a spot to add a gift card - for a coffee shop, of course!

2020 Fall Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop

Well, I almost missed the 2020 Fall Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop!  We've been busy doing next to nothing, too!  Time and days just got away from us and before we knew it, November 10th was here.  OMG!!

So, I quickly ran to my cave and made a card:  I added some lovely watercolor to a digital cup and picked out cheerful paper and cardstock.

Hope you have a great day!

May all your wishes come true

Happy Fall!   We have a beautiful maple tree in our front yard which I love looking at all summer.  Usually the leaves slowly turn orange and yellow in the fall.  But not this year.  It seems like half the leaves fell off the tree today - leaves were raining down!

So in honor of my tree, I made this card using fall colors (orange, gold, brown, green) in the paper, foil leaves and twine.

Good Friend

Thanks for being such a good friend:  great card to send to a great friend.  I made this card for the Festive Friday Challenge #FF0063 celebrating International Day of Friendship.  From the inspiration list I chose pink, green, friendship sentiment, polka dots, flower and embossing.  I had fun making this card with all the different elements.

Layers of Books

Love this image of a stack of books and a coffee cup - love the old fashioned design of the books.    I added a little bit of gold on several of the books.  When I saw the challenge theme for The Library Challenge, this layered stack of books came to mind immediately.

Graduation

Congratulations to all graduates this year!  What a year to remember.

For the Festive Friday Challenge #FF0058 I created this gift card holder using the new graduation cap die set from The Stamps of Life.  I cut the front pieces out of a paper napkin.  I've made other cards using paper napkins and love them.  Such a unique method.  Then I made a little tassel from some black twine and glued the sections to a white base card.  Next was to die cut the inside black piece and add the white embossed sentiment, congratulations.  The black piece is adhered to the white card only along the edges so a gift card or cash can be slipped behind the piece.

The elements I chose for this challenge are a gift card holder, congratulations sentiment, a little green and embossing.  Fun card to make.

Thank You, Front Line Heroes

Festive Friday Challenge #0057 is to celebrate National Nurses Day on May 6.  Just after I read the reminder email for this challenge, I opened an email from Floral and Fauna which offered a free printable design.  Eureka -- a match:  a printable image of a face mask and the sentiment, Thank you, front line HEROES!

A simple card, but really nice.  Thanks Flora and Fauna for the great design.

National Library Worker Day

Though National Library Worker Day has been around for several years, I am more familiar with Library Assistant's Day.  We always enjoyed celebrating National Library Week.

Here is a birthday card with a darling kitty atop a stack of books for the Festive Friday Challenge #FF0056.

Have a great weekend,

Feel Better Soon!

The last few weeks have brought troubles to three of my friends -- one dislocated shoulder (tripped over grandchildren's toys), broken wrist (fell in bathroom) and a broken ankle (fell down curb).  All three of these mishaps in a two week span.  Things happen in threes, right?  So get well cards needed to be made.

I stamped these cute rain boots and tulips (Technique Tuesday Greenhouse stamp) on watercolor paper and then colored them with pastel paints.  Purple ink edges the watercolor paper to give a little more contrast with the lavender frame.  The base card is a pretty pastel green.  I made several of these cards!

Happy Valentine's Day

Here's a Valentine's Day card covered in red, polka dots, hearts, a doily, pearls, glittered heart & arrow and cute little ribbons.  And there is a little tone on tone on the base card.

Oh, and inside are a few more red and pink hearts!
