29!

I love birthdays, but some people don't.   Many people (men and women) celebrate year 29 several times!   So for those who do.

For this card I cut several papers and made a sort of patchwork frame for the 29 numbers.  Added some silver ribbon and HB sentiment with yellow splatters on the tag.

I'll be entering this in retrosketches #107

Happy Thursday!

Best Wishes

The Festive Friday challenge inspiration this week was a snowflake -- crystalline and shiny.  I tried stamping snowflakes, cutting out snowflakes and ....   and my result was this card.  I like red, white and kraft together and big tags seem to be the 'big' thing right now.  Plus, a little bling in the corners!

And appropriately enough, snow is falling.  again....

Sorry - I forgot ......

Besides needing the challenge to be creative, I love challenges as they give me real reasons (excuses?) to be making cards in my cave!

So, here is a one layer card I made that I'll enter in two challenges:  One-Layer Simplicity and CAS Sunday.

CAS cards are quite a challenge for me.  Other than the requirement to Just Add Water for the One-Layer Simplicity challenge, the theme could be anything.      duh......  think, think, think......

Since I am always needing birthday cards and more often belated birthday cards, I thought I'd use my little "Sorry - I forgot .... " stamp in between the tall leaves and cattails.

This was my first attempt at spritzing water on an inked stamp.  Not bad, but I think I will try flowers next.  I like the water color look.

Happy Birthday with Denim and Burlap

Masculine birthday cards can be difficult.  Sometimes you just don't want a fish or hunting theme.  So I tried something totally different with no real theme other than it is not feminine!  Kraft paper is always good for masculine cards.  Burlap seems to look good on any card and you can do so much with it.

I guess the card has a somewhat outdoorsy theme:  denim and roasting marshmellows!

I'll be entering this card in Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #211

The sun is shining!  YAY!

Love this Daisy!

I love this stamp!   The daisy stamp was part of the Greenhouse Society collection.  With spring coming I am ready to stamp all kinds of flowers!

This daisy card will be entered in retrosketchs #106 challenge

Happy Weekend!

Roots

One of the challenges I meant to enter but missed the deadline was CASology: Week 86: ROOTS.

When I saw the cue card was ROOTS I immediately thought of my family tree.  For years I have researched my family history and thought this would be a fun card to make.

I'm sorry I missed the deadline (probably should write these things down!).  The card is a patchwork of different papers.  My original thought was to make a quilt with the family names, but the sizes did not work out.  So I patched this together.

Kathy

Happy Everything

Snow!!!!!!  I am soooooo tired of snow.  In the summer I say I live in the South because the humidity is pretty thick in August and in the winter I like to say I live in the South because our winters are normally mild.  Well, that winter statement is totally off this year.  We have had soooo much snow, I'm ready to go to Florida!

So, I'm thinking Spring with a capital S!  My daffodils are up about 4" and trees have buds.  They are ready and so am I !

I used stamps from Paper Smooches (leaves and sentiment)  and Verve (flower) and added a little bling in the center of the flowers.   The flowers and leaves are stamped with Versa Magic on watercolor paper and I used my water brush pen for a little watercolor effect.   For a change I made a square card - don't make many of them.  Hope you like it.

I'll be entering this card in a couple challenges:

Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #210

This winter has been the real challenge!  Just as I thought we were going to be feeling spring soon, the temperature dropped thirty degrees and snow is expected this weekend.  What is going on!!!!!?????

My mind is set for spring, bright and cheerful colors and warm temperatures!

So, here is the card I am entering in the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge

I love this die from Memory Box and have made several cards with yellow flowers and green and blue papers.  It's great for birthday and get well cards.

Take care,
Kathy

Festive Friday #26 and retro sketches Challenges

*  see note below

Even though I love making Christmas cards, I do not need snow outside to get me energized!  I am sooooo glad the snow has melted and we are going to have 60 degree weather a couple days this week.  Yay!!!

The newest inspiration from Festive Friday is this picture.  Now this makes me hungry!  Does anyone have a recipe for this cookie?

   Festive Friday #26

When I saw my papers, I picked out a curly pattern which reminded me of this swirling frosting.

* Note:  I really should check my email more often.  I came across the latest retro sketches challenge and thought the above Christmas card might work, too.

So I am entering this card in two challenges:

Happy Monday and have a good week!

Moxie Fab World: Hexagons

The other day I entered a card on the Moxie Fab Hexagon Challenge and since then I have been thinking of hexagon cards --   even while I cleaned the house (yuk!) and made my favorite dish for dinner (yay!)

I love making cards with hexagons!  There is something about them.

And then I remembered a card I saw last week on a blog.  Why didn't I save it to Pinterest?  I have searched my boards and don't see it.  what????    I loved it and still see it clearly in my mind with hexagons, a butterfly and splatter spots in grey, white and yellow.  I remember the card because the blog was written in German.  Have no idea what was said, but I loved the card.

So, here is the card.  Don't you love it?  One change I made was the sentiment.  My uncle and brother-in-law are under the weather so I needed a couple get well cards.   I made two identical cards -- they're getting the same card   ;')  -- good thing they don't see each other (different sides of the family).

I am entering this card in the Hexagons: Happy for Hexagons Challenge in the Moxie Fab World

I asked my husband what he thought of the card featured below.  He liked it, but didn't understand why hexagons were trendy.  ???

Take care,
Kathy
