Country Mouse

Several months ago I purchased this stamp to make a birthday card for my great nephew who plays the trumpet.  Then I changed my mind so the stamp has been sitting on the shelf.  

And then... The Town Mouse and The Country Mouse challenge came up!  yay!!

 

This is my first entry to a Library Challenge.  As a retired librarian, I am so happy to discover this new challenge blog.

Hooray!

Celebrate a birthday of any age!  This card is so happy looking and colorful.

The white frame was embossed with a Happy Birthday folder.  I used the Papertrey Ink balloon die set and designer paper for the balloon.  Not sure this qualifies for the negative die challenge, but I had fun making this card. 

 

I made the second card in yellow and green and have two people in mind for these birthday cards.

Guy Card

Guy cards are not difficult to create, yet they are not easy either.  Flowery, sentimental and mushy female cards are so easy and so much fun to make.  Finding the right balance of masculine colors, graphics and sentiments is a challenge.

So, with that said, I made this card.  The pine tree is perfect for a winter, masculine card.  No frills -- just the basics -- Happy Birthday!

 

I'll be posting this card to a new challenge for me:  The Male Room.  My plan (sort of like a new year resolution) is to make more guy cards.

Daisies Happy Birthday

What a cheery card!  Bright red and white.  This birthday card was cut using a Sizzix die set.  Soooo easy and soooo pretty!   Many of my family members will be receiving variants of this card -- just a heads up, guys  😀

 

I forgot I made one of these cards in blue and yellow a couple weeks ago.

Belated Birthday Library Card

Not stamped, but computer generated.   I needed a belated birthday card for a friend who is a retired librarian so I made the library book card on my computer and printed it. 

When I gave her the card, I wrote her birth date in the Date Due column and her name in the next column.  I also added my name in the Author spot. 

A little library humor.  😀

Fall Birthday Card

Here is another favorite card -- I love the lines of the branches and leaves.  Fall colors are the best.

I made this card at a 'card party' and used a friend's supplies.  The branches are die cut from a Memory Box die, I think.  I've tried to find one online, but haven't found it.

Coffee Happy Birthday

Another card for the 2018 Spring / Summer Coffee Lover's Bloghop.  The background on this card is similar to the Father's Day card I made last week.  You can read about that card here.

I added a rectangle of black netting - recycled avocado bag :') -  and I edged the card with gold ink.  I like the gold ink, but the edges look rippled due to the embossing.

Another Happy Birthday Apron Card

Here is another summery and pretty apron card.  I hand cut the apron and flowered layer piece.  The huge pocket is a 3 1/2" circle cut in half, and I tucked a Happy Birthday tag in the pocket.

 

 

This card would be perfect for a woman who likes to cook or bake and for a chef.

Happy Birthday Apron

Lately I have seen a few 'apron' cards and thought they were so cute.  So I found a template online and hand cut the apron.  I also purchased a die set that includes several kitchen utensils and an apron. 

This apron card is made with the template and die cut kitchen utensils.  I'll post another apron card with the die cut apron later.

 

Love the red and white colors - perfect for a summer birthday!  And the card could be sent to a man or woman.

Since it is still snowing, I decided to make another coffee related card.  Below is a birthday card decorated with poinsettias and two little darling coffee cups.

I love poinsettias.  Every year we buy plants to give relatives and friends.  This year I crocheted a pot cover in red yarn with a white furry top -- so cute!
